We can learn so much from the characters in the movies we watch and the stories we read. Tony Stark, for instance, defies his family tradition of making weapons for profit and does what he feels is right – uses them to help others. In the classroom we discuss with our After-school participants what it means to go against the group for something you feel is right. This might be a risk, but it is worth it. Iron Man pushes himself to the limit and shows us that pushing ourselves can lead to success or the ability to develop a new perspective. Tony Stark shows us the different ways we can show gratitude and protect those we love. He is a hero as Iron Man, but he is also a hero without his suit.
Ever thought about giving monthly to a truly heroic cause?
The Thanda Superheroes are a group of monthly donors who are fighting food insecurity, poor education, and unemployment – creating real and lasting change in rural South Africa. With these powers, they are building a world where everyone can be a hero in their own communities.
