Today celebrates Freedom Day in South Africa honouring the fight for equality and freedom. This month, After-school participants learned about artist and activist Keith Haring who led the campaign “Free South Africa” in New York, USA in 1985. Using his simplistic, but powerful style he created posters, t-shirts, and more to bring public attention that inspired change to injustices happening in South Africa.
Before beginning her work as the Marketing & Communications Coordinator at Thanda, Alicia was a Healthy Youth Advisor for the U.S. Peace Corps in South Africa's neighboring country, Lesotho. In 2014, she graduated from the University of Denver in Colorado, USA with a degree in International Health and Development.
