Every year, Thanda students in grades R-7 go on field trips. Grades R & 1 recently visited Mitchell Park Zoo in Durban, home to many small animals and birds including crocodiles, wallabies, and tortoises. It is an opportunity to learn about species from around the world and have fun in a new environment.
Before beginning her work as the Marketing & Communications Coordinator at Thanda, Alicia was a Healthy Youth Advisor for the U.S. Peace Corps in South Africa's neighboring country, Lesotho. In 2014, she graduated from the University of Denver in Colorado, USA with a degree in International Health and Development.
