We believe that the future of our world lies within the power of our youth. By understanding the degree to which our global world is interconnected and interdependent, we can all understand our role and responsibility as a global citizen.

The two-week Thanda Global Citizenship Course is open to high school students from around the world and offers a unique opportunity to engage with local Thanda high school students, Thanda staff, and exceptional guest speakers in order to better understand the challenges faced in this community, discover your own similarities, and think about sustainability in the broader global context. Through lessons, trips, readings, interactive learning and discussions, you will explore questions such as:

  • What does it mean to be a global citizen?
  • How can I better understand people and issues in developing nations?
  • What can I learn from Africa?
  • What are our responsibilities as educated, engaged citizens?

Through hands-on learning, you will have a challenging, enjoyable, and rewarding learning experience that will leave you well-primed for success as a leader in our global community. You will build relationships that transcend geopolitical, cultural, and socioeconomic boundaries to prepare you for a future where we collaborate to find solutions together.
